        Scots Greys

        Picture
We breed the critically endangered Scots Grey poultry. This is an old Scots breed once particularly common in Lanarkshire. They are a small breed, the utility strain is almost bantam sized. They produce small white eggs which are, of course delicious. Our poultry are free-range having the run of the entire farm.

        Hen and chicks

        Picture
Scots Greys are excellent mothers. Ours disappear off and reappear a few weeks later with a brood of chicks in tow. This is not without its dangers - from time to time we do lose hens and chicks to foxes. Usually however, we do manage to round up the hen and newly hatched chicks and shut them in a henhouse for a few days to keep them safe. Once they know to return to the henhouse at night they are free to roam where they please - and they do.
